Eats! Don't just eat to live, Live to Eat!

Food, Food, Glorious Food!

That's not just a line from the musical Oliver!, it also seems to be one of the underpining philosophies of life for me and for many others.

Truly, food isn't the only thing in my life. I have a database job I (mostly) enjoy. I'm active in my church. Family and friends receive much of my attention. But food, food, glorious food is an ever-present part of my daily life.

Picture of Bill As you can see from the photo, I'm no stranger to a knife and fork. I've been at least 250 pounds since I was 13 (40+ years ago).

I've had a few serious passions in my life, and two of those are combined in this site: My passion for food and recipes, and my passion for databases. I was collecting recipes long before I ever heard the term "database." And over the years those recipes have migrated from hard copies (on 3x5 cards) to dBase II, Paradox for DOS, Paradox for Windows, Filemaker Pro, Access, and now a recipe-specific database program that helps me manage and categorize nearly a million recipes. I haven't prepared and eaten all of those foods yet. But I'm still alive and still hoping to get to all of them before I die.

So, what should you expect to find here?

Picture of Bill Recipes, for sure. Things like Chocolate & Strawberries: Richness We Can All Afford, or My 100 Favorite Crockpot Recipes. I'll be providing lots-n-lots of free recipes here over the months and years ahead. Pulling them out of the database and formatting them into a web page takes some time, so look for new recipiess every week or two.

And you should also expect reviews of cookbooks. There are a lot of eBooks on the Internet, and a lot of eCookbooks. I buy and read most of them. Here you'll find reviews of the good ones. Buying one or more of these eCookbooks by clicking on the links found here does two things: (a) it helps support this site, and (b) it gets you a good cookbook with lots of recipes. I promise, I'll only be recommending good cookbooks -- life's too short to be eating bad food.
